Bizarre Incident! man declared deceased wakes up before postmortem in hospital in northern India

In a shocking turn of events, a man presumed dead at a hospital in northern India’s Bihar stunned everyone by waking up moments before his postmortem was to be conducted.

The incident took place at Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital, located in Bihar Sharif, the district headquarters of Nalanda district on September 23.

Visuals showed a man, heavily intoxicated, was found lying on the bathroom floor of a hospital, appearing completely still. The dim light in the small, tiled bathroom cast long shadows, and his body lay motionless on the cold floor, leading everyone to believe he was dead. The police arrived, and after inspecting the scene, noticed he was simply unconscious. His face was pale, his clothes rumpled. Later, as he emerged from the hospital, looking groggy but alive, he explained with a slurred voice, “I wasn’t dead, just unconscious.”

According to reports the man, identified as Rakesh Kumar from Jirainpur village in Asthawan, had gone to the hospital to collect medicine. While in a heavily intoxicated state, he lost consciousness and fell in the bathroom on the first floor.

The situation came to light when a sanitation worker informed the hospital administration about the bathroom door being locked from the inside for an unusually long time. The police were alerted, and they arrived at the scene, eventually breaking down the door with the help of staff. Inside, they found Kumar lying motionless on the floor.

After checking his pulse, the authorities mistakenly declared him dead. As news of the “body” spread across the hospital, police called in an FSL team for investigation. Civil Surgeon Dr. Jitendra Kumar Singh was informed and ordered the man to be sent for postmortem.

However, just as the staff prepared to take the “body” for postmortem, Kumar suddenly stood up, causing shockwaves throughout the hospital. Witnesses, including hospital staff, were left in disbelief, while others burst into laughter at the bizarre situation.

Police took Rakesh Kumar into custody following the incident. It was confirmed that his unconscious state was due to intoxication, and he regained consciousness after some time. Crowds gathered at the hospital to catch a glimpse of the man who came back from the “dead.”
