Teenager duped of USD 2,400 under fake IPS job scam, caught flaunting uniform in northern India
by Ekta ChaubeyIn a shocking incident in northern India’s Bihar, an 18-year-old boy was caught impersonating an IPS officer after being duped in a job scam.
The incident took place in Jamui district on September 20.
Visuals showed the boy posing in a police uniform with a pistol, confidently flaunting his ‘new rank’ in his village. The boy was then taken into custody, where officers interrogated him about the man who had promised him a job in exchange for money. Even after being arrested, he continued to claim he was a legitimate IPS officer.
According to reports, the boy had paid USD 2,400 (₹2 lakh) to a man named Manoj Singh, who promised him an IPS position. Locals, suspicious of how he obtained the uniform without proper training, informed the police, leading to his arrest. Reportedly, he had received the uniform and pistol near Khaira school and had been on his way to pay the remaining USD 360 (₹30,000) when the police apprehended him at Sikandra Chowk.
Authorities have recovered the uniform and pistol from the boy and are now working to track down the gang involved in the scam.
