A 5-foot-long snake was spotted hanging in the AC coach of the Garib Rath Express in western India’s Maharashtra, causing panic among passengers. Railway authorities immediately shifted passengers to another coach, and the incident was widely shared on social media.

 

The incident took place on the Jabalpur-Mumbai Garib Rath Express, specifically between Bhusawal and Kasara stations on September 22.

Visuals showed inside a train, a snake was seen hanging from the ceiling, creating a tense and alarming atmosphere. Passengers were visibly frightened, staring at the snake in shock. Some moved away quickly, while others watched cautiously, unsure what to do. The air was thick with anxiety, and the commotion led to a scene of mild chaos, as people nervously shuffled around, trying to keep their distance from the snake.

 

In a rare and alarming incident on Sunday, a 5-foot-long snake was found hanging in the AC coach of the Jabalpur-Mumbai Garib Rath Express, causing chaos among passengers. The train had just passed between Bhusawal and Kasara stations when a passenger noticed the snake, identified as a Dhaman species, hanging from the roof of the coach.

 

Initially, the snake was hidden beneath the seats, making it undetectable to passengers until one traveler spotted it and alerted others. This led to panic, with people rushing to move away from the area.

 

The incident was immediately reported to the railway staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). As a precautionary measure, the train was halted, and passengers were moved to a different coach. Railway officials conducted a thorough inspection of the entire coach, but the snake could not be located.

 

Western Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Harshit Srivastava stated that an investigation would be conducted into the incident, stressing that passenger safety is a top priority for Indian Railways. He also mentioned that regular inspections and cleanings of all coaches are carried out to prevent such occurrences. The incident highlights the importance of passenger vigilance, as the snake might have gone unnoticed otherwise.

 

Videos of the snake, taken by passengers, quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention to the event.
