Tempo runs over 5-year-old child in northern India: tragic incident captured on CCTV
In a heartbreaking accident in northern India’s Delhi, a tempo ran over a 5-year-old boy. The tragic event was recorded by a nearby CCTV camera, leading to the arrest of the driver and the seizure of the vehicle.
The incident took place at Wazirpur Industrial Area in North West Delhi on September 16.
Visuals showed the boy being hit by the tempo while trying to navigate through moving vehicles. Despite immediate efforts by bystanders to rush the child to the hospital, he was declared dead on arrival.
According to reports on Monday afternoon at around 12:30 PM, a tempo in the Wazirpur Industrial Area fatally struck a 5-year-old child as he attempted to cross the street. The incident was captured on CCTV.
Local residents have expressed frustration over the dangerous conditions on the 80-foot road, which has been narrowed to 20 feet due to illegal parking and encroachments by factory owners and street vendors. Numerous complaints to the police and municipal authorities have reportedly gone unheeded, contributing to the hazardous environment.

The child’s family, who had recently moved from Bihar to Delhi in search of better opportunities, is mourning the loss. The police have taken the driver into custody and are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
