Tragic! Twenty coal-laden wagons derail, blocking rail traffic in northern India
by ShravyaIn a major incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, twenty wagons of a coal-loaded freight train were derailed, disrupting the busy Mathura-Palwal rail route.
The incident took place at Vrindavan Road station in Mathura district on September 18.
Visuals showed the coal wagons lying off the tracks in the late hours, while police personnel were seen patrolling the area and inspecting the damage along the railway tracks.
According to reports, the derailment happened around 8 p.m., affecting three railway lines. The Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the National Capital Region (NCR) railway zone stated that the derailment had brought train traffic to a standstill on the Mathura-Palwal route. Efforts were underway to clear the lines swiftly, with officials also ensuring the fourth line was unaffected.
Allegedly a spokesperson from the scene stated that efforts are being made to restore services quickly while ensuring the fourth line remains unaffected.
