Gallant rescue! SDRF successfully rescues man trapped in gushing river in northern India

In a daring rescue operation in northern India’s Uttarakhand, a man was saved by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) after being trapped in a fast-flowing river.

The incident took place at Sonprayag village of Rudraprayag district on September 17.

Visuals showed the man stranded amidst the high-speed gushing waters of the river, standing near a large rock in the stream. Rescue officials were seen using ropes and assisting the man out of the danger zone. One rescue worker held the man, while another pulled the ropes, and other officials stood on the riverbank, working diligently to ensure the man’s safe extraction.

Speaking to Newslions, SDRF Media Coordinator from Uttrakhand Control Room, Lalita Negi stated that the Sonprayag police station alerted the SDRF team about the man trapped in the river near the Sitapur parking area. Acting swiftly, the SDRF team, under the leadership of SI Ashish Dimri, arrived at the scene. In a joint operation with the NDRF team, they successfully rescued Vijay Kumar, son of Veer Sahay, a resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, from the swift currents.
