A young woman’s quest for social media fame nearly turned fatal when she was swept away by the swollen Ganges River in Haridwar. The incident occurred near Vishnu Ghat, where the woman was performing to a song in hopes of increasing her likes, comments, and followers. During her performance, she lost her footing and plunged into the turbulent river.

Fortunately, the woman knew how to swim, which allowed her to escape unharmed despite the dangerous conditions. The video of her being swept away has gone viral, drawing attention to the growing trend among youth of risking their lives for social media content.

The Sri Ganga Sabha has repeatedly urged for responsible photography and videography at the ghats, but these appeals are often ignored, leading to dangerous situations. The local police have been cracking down on such reckless behavior by issuing fines and warnings, but incidents like these continue to occur. The Ganges’ water levels are currently high due to recent heavy rains, making such activities particularly hazardous.
