Undies gang strikes again in western India: six shops targeted, goods worth lakhs stolen

The brazen thieves, dressed in vests and underwear, were captured on CCTV breaking into establishments selling fertilizers, hardware, and electric pumps.
The incident took place in Malegaon, a city in the Nashik district on September 5.
Visuals showed under the cover of night, members of the “Chaddi-Baniyan” gang stealthily approached a shop. With a quiet yet deliberate effort, they forced open the shop’s shutter. Once inside, they began to rummage through the store, sifting through various items with a sense of urgency. The thieves, clad in their distinctive vests and underwear, moved methodically, examining and selecting goods, their actions illuminated intermittently by the faint light seeping through the shop’s broken shutter. The scene was a chaotic blend of darkness and sporadic light, underscoring the brazen nature of their theft.
The infamous “Undies gang” gang made headlines once more as they targeted multiple shops in Malegaon, Nashik. The gang, known for their unusual choice of attire—vests, and underwear—was seen on CCTV footage as they forcefully broke into six different shops specializing in fertilizers, hardware, and electric pumps.
This recent spate of thefts follows an earlier robbery by the same gang, where they stole approximately 70 grams of gold, valued at ₹5 lakh (6,000 USD), along with bananas from a home and a college in the same area. The thieves are often armed with sharp weapons, adding an element of intimidation to their criminal activities.
The motive behind their unique attire remains unclear—whether it is a psychological tactic to mislead investigators or simply a bizarre modus operandi. Authorities are investigating whether these incidents are the work of a single gang or if multiple groups are using similar tactics to confuse law enforcement.
