Massive traffic jam with cars floating in northern India after heavy rainfall causes Severe waterlogging on national highway
A sudden and intense rainfall in a city renowned for its historic monuments in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, led to severe waterlogging on a major national highway, causing a massive traffic jam.
The incident took place in Agra city on August 30.
Visuals showed cars floating in the water and water level rising upto the extent that it nearly submerged the trucks as well.
According to reports, the downpour overwhelmed the city’s drainage systems, resulting in knee-deep water that brought traffic to a standstill for hours.
This national highway is a crucial route connecting Agra to other regions, making the situation even more chaotic. Commuters, including those on essential journeys, found themselves stuck with little information on when the situation would improve. Local vendors, who depend on the steady flow of traffic for their livelihood, voiced concerns about the impact on their daily earnings.
The heavy rain and resulting congestion have raised questions about Agra’s infrastructure and its ability to cope with such incidents, especially as the city draws numerous tourists every year.
