Heart-wrenching! Two children electrocuted by broken wires while riding bicycle in southern India

In a tragic incident in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, two children were electrocuted by broken wires while riding their bicycle on the road.

The incident took place on Bellary Road, Bellam Mandi Street, in Kadapa city on August 21.

Visuals showed a cable wire tied to an electric pole, with two supporting Jio wires broken. The students, who were riding their bicycles, were unaware of the danger when one of the Jio wires struck the leg of the student sitting at the back. As the other wire was directly connected to the transformer, the high-voltage current caused the student sitting at the back to fall unconscious immediately. The student riding the bicycle was also electrocuted, suffering injuries to his leg and arm.

According to reports, one student, Tanveer (11), tragically died on the spot, while the other student, Adam (10), sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. The accident occurred as the children were on their way to school in the afternoon. Locals quickly responded and rushed the children to the hospital. Outraged parents protested against the negligence of the electricity department officials.

The electricity department responded, stating that action would be taken against the responsible staff. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased student and will cover the medical expenses of the injured student.
