Severe flooding hits residential area in central India after heavy rainfall

The absence of proper drainage has led to widespread waterlogging, affecting numerous homes and causing significant distress among residents.
The incident took place at Namo Nagar, a residential area in Shivpuri district on August 13.
Visuals showed in a residential area, the situation following continuous heavy rainfall was quite dire. The street was completely submerged in water, creating the appearance of a flowing river rather than a typical roadway. The water level had risen significantly, and the current was strong. Amidst the flooding, a few cows were seen taking refuge in the corners beneath the houses, trying to stay out of the rising water. The entire scene conveyed an overwhelming sense of inundation, making it seem as if the street had transformed into a river rather than a neighborhood thoroughfare.
Namo Nagar, a residential area in Shivpuri, was transformed into a waterlogged landscape reminiscent of a river’s course after a heavy downpour on Tuesday. The area, lacking adequate water drainage infrastructure, witnessed extensive flooding, with many homes inundated by the rising water levels.
The situation in Namo Nagar is reflective of a broader problem affecting various parts of the city. Other areas, including Rambag Colony, behind Hotel PS, New Shiv Colony, Fatehpur, Maniyar, and Sanjay Colony, are also grappling with severe waterlogging. The persistent rainfall has caused significant disruptions, leaving residents in a state of distress as their homes are submerged and daily life is severely impacted.
Authorities are yet to address the drainage issues in these areas, and the local population is left struggling with the aftermath of the flooding. Immediate action is needed to prevent further damage and alleviate the suffering of affected residents.
