Kidnapping in northern India: six men abduct youth over Instagram comment, two arrested
Six miscreants kidnapped a man from a shop in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred near the Tiranga Gas Godown in Humayun Nagar, Lohia Nagar of Meerut district on August 12.

Visuals showed that the youth had been standing at a shop when six people arrived in a car. They grabbed him, and as he tried to escape, more people arrived in the car. They ordered him to leave quickly, restrained him by holding both his hands, and one of them opened the car door. After forcing him into the car, they sped away.

According to reports, the entire incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed nearby. The victim’s family handed the footage over to the police, who reviewed about 100 pieces of footage. Within three hours, the car was intercepted on the way to Narheda, and two of the accused were apprehended. The accused confessed that Adeeb had made an offensive comment on their Instagram, which angered them and led them to kidnap him as an act of revenge. Adeeb was safely returned to his family.

One of the arrested suspects, Mo. Maaz Siddiqui, son of Azizuddin, is a resident of Lakhimpur Kheri Sadar but currently lives in a rented room in Meerut Ganganagar. The second suspect, Nayab, son of Nairam, is a resident of Amroha Gangwar police station and also lives in Ganganagar. Both suspects have been living together in a rented room. The police have also recovered the Baleno car used in the kidnapping. Two accomplices managed to escape, and two police teams have been deployed to apprehend them. The arrested suspects are currently being interrogated, and a case has been registered against them.

Lohia Nagar police station in-charge, Sanjay Pandey, stated that both suspects are students at IIMT University in Meerut—one is an MBA student and the other is pursuing a B.Com. They have been living in a rented room in Meerut for almost three years. The police are also searching for the remaining suspects.

The victim, Adeeb, is an adult but still a high school student who also tutors children at home. His father, Sartaj, works as a laborer. During the interrogation, the suspects revealed that they had connected with Adeeb through social media, where they were part of some common groups. On Sunday, while they were live on social media, Adeeb made some comments that the suspects found intolerable.
