Stray dog attacks toddler in southern India
A distressing incident occurred in southern India’s Telangana when an 18-month-old boy, Harinandan, was violently attacked by a stray dog while playing on the streets.
The incident took place near Satavahana University in Karimnagar district on August 7.

Visuals showed the stray dog approaching the children playing outside. While one child managed to flee, Harinandan was unable to escape in time. The dog pounced on him, severely injuring the young boy. The child’s cries for help prompted nearby family members to rush to his aid.

According to reports, Harinandan was subsequently hospitalized for his injuries.

This attack is part of a troubling trend in Karimnagar, where stray dog incidents have been increasing. Recent reports highlight a growing concern over stray dogs in the area, including a fatal attack on an elderly woman by a pack of dogs in the Mustabad Mandal.

The Karimnagar Municipal Corporation plans to address this issue by implementing the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program in response to a petition from animal activists, aiming to control the stray dog population and improve public safety.
