Ox causes train derailment in northern India; operations disrupted on Bhiwani-Rewari Line

A freight train derailed in northern India’s Haryana after an ox came under the train. Despite the slow speed of the train, the incident caused significant disruption to railway services.

 

The incident took place at Jeetu Wala Railway Gate, Bhiwani-Rewari Rail Line, Bhiwani District on August 7.

Visuals showed after the train derailed and veered into the fields, the scene was chaotic. The train, having lost its way, was sprawled across the fields. A large crowd had gathered around the area, adding to the commotion. People were milling about, trying to make sense of the situation. The atmosphere was filled with a mix of urgency and confusion as authorities and onlookers dealt with the aftermath of the derailment.

 

Late Wednesday night, a freight train derailed near the Jeetu Wala railway gate on the Bhiwani-Rewari route after an ox was struck by the train. The ox was crushed under the train, which led to one of the train’s carriages slipping off the tracks. Fortunately, the train was moving at a very slow speed, which helped avert a major disaster.

 

Railway officials from the technical wing arrived promptly at the scene to address the issue. They began the process of re-aligning the derailed carriage and repairing the damaged tracks. The incident also led to a temporary disruption of services on the Bhiwani-Rewari rail line. Members of a cow protection group also arrived at the scene, capturing the incident on video and sharing it on social media.

 

Kamini Chauhan, Station Superintendent at Bhiwani, stated, “An ox came under a freight train near the Jeetu Wala railway gate, resulting in one carriage derailing. Railway technical officials have reached the site, and efforts to restore the damaged track are underway. I have also inspected the situation personally.”
