Thief with 75 cases caught after dramatic chase in southern India
In a dramatic incident in southern India’s Karnataka, a policeman displayed remarkable bravery by risking his life to catch a notorious thief.
The incident took place in Bengaluru city on August 6.
Visuals showed a constable monitoring a busy road in civil dress. Later the constable could be seen jumping in front of the thief’s scooter. Seconds later, the thief accelerated the bike, dragging the official for about a few meters. Despite losing his grip on the thief’s collar, the constable made a bold attempt to catch his leg, causing the accused to lose control of the scooter.
Later, two traffic police personnel nearby rushed to assist the constable. Although the thief managed to escape from one officer’s grasp, the other successfully apprehended him. Passers-by also joined in, halting traffic and ensuring the thief could not escape.
According to reports, police later revealed that the thief, Manjesh, had fled to Bengaluru from Tumkur district after being booked for 75 cases and had been under surveillance for some time. They recovered Rs 10,000 in cash and 130 grams of gold jewelry from him. Manjesh is now in custody.
