The incident took place in Haridwar district on August 6.
Visuals showed the woman almost entering her home when the deserted alley provided an opportunity for the robber. As soon as the woman entered her home, the snatcher pounced, snatched the chain from her neck, and fled on foot. The woman was left clueless about what had happened to her in broad daylight.
According to reports, the woman, a resident of Krishnanagar, had gone shopping in the market. A chain snatcher followed her from there. When she reached her house, the street nearby was empty. The robber took advantage of the deserted alley. As soon as the woman entered her house, the snatcher swooped on her neck, snatched the chain, and escaped.
As soon as the information was received, the Kankhal police station reached the spot and tried to nab the accused, but by then, he had managed to escape. Kankhal police station in-charge Bhawana Kenthula said efforts are on to arrest the accused based on CCTV footage. The chain snatcher will be caught soon. There has been a sensation in the area after this incident in broad daylight.
