Two men arrested for attempting dog dumping in central India
In central India’s  Madhya Pradesh, police have filed charges against two men for allegedly cramming six dogs into a sack with the intent to dispose of them in a river.
The incident took place in Satna city on August 1.
Visuals showed dogs tied up being released by the people who were bringing them tied in sacks to throw them in the water. A man explaining and another one questioning why the dogs were tied in the first place could be heard in the background.
The situation came to public attention when two passersby noticed the dogs being transported in an e-rickshaw. Satna Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Gupta reported that a video circulating on social media revealed a person stating that the dogs were tied up and placed in sacks to be thrown into the Satna river.
SP Gupta instructed local officers to take immediate action. Shankhdhar Dwivedi, the in-charge at Kotwali police station, recounted how bikers, alarmed by the sound of dogs crying from within the sacks on the e-rickshaw, compelled the driver to halt and open the sacks, finding six dogs inside.

The accused, identified as Nandu Bansakar and Pradeep Bansakar, were planning to throw the dogs into the river. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and authorities are proceeding with the necessary actions.
