Emergency stop: Smoke incident on train causes panic in southern India

In a tense incident in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh’s smoke from brake binding caused a train to make an emergency stop near the Adaviramapuram-Siripuram railway gate in Kavali.

The incident occurred at Nagaon train near the Kavali area of Nellore district on July 21.

Visuals showed passengers hurriedly leaving the train, creating a scene of panic and urgency.
According to reports, the loco pilot noticed the smoke and immediately stopped the train, allowing passengers to disembark and evacuate to safety. After the necessary repairs were made, the train continued its journey.

The Railway Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Vijayawada confirmed the details, stating, “The loco pilot quickly halted the train, enabling passengers to disembark and evacuate. Railway personnel promptly addressed the issue and carried out the required repairs, allowing the train to resume its journey.”
