Thirteen injured as building collapses in western India; rescue operations ongoing

The incident took place at Rubinissa Manzil building on Sleater Road, near the Grant Road railway station in Mumbai on July 20.
Visuals showed it was an ordinary day with people going about their usual activities. Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from outside. In an instant, a portion of the building came crashing down from above. Several people standing nearby and those passing by were buried under the rubble.
A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning when a section of the four-storey Rubinissa Manzil building on Sleater Road, near the Grant Road railway station, collapsed around 11 am. A 70-year-old woman lost her life, and thirteen other individuals sustained injuries.
The collapse involved the balcony and slab on the second and third floors, which partially gave way. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), seven to eight people are still stranded on the fourth floor, with rescue operations actively being conducted by the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
Thirteen people, including six men, six women, and one child, have been rescued so far. Among the injured are Atul Shaha (55), Nikesh Shaha (26), and Vijay Aanand (25), who have been admitted to Bhatia Hospital.
The deceased woman has not yet been identified and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. The BMC continues to monitor the situation closely, with a portion of the building still hanging precariously.
