Temple thief prays before stealing silver crown in western India: CCTV footage reveals

In a surprising turn of events captured on CCTV, a thief entered a temple, posing as a devotee, and prayed before making off with a valuable silver crown from the deity’s adornments in western India’s Maharashtra.

 

The incident took place at Vitthal Mandir in the Dattapada area of Borivali in Mumbai on July 17.

Visuals showed a man approaching the deity with folded hands, seemingly seeking forgiveness, before turning his attention to the camera. Seizing an opportunity, he swiftly removed a silver crown from the idol’s adornments and concealed it in a bag before making a hasty exit.

 

Authorities are currently examining the CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the thief, who managed to evade immediate detection despite the security measures in place. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and temple authorities, who are calling for enhanced security measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
