Drivers wait patiently as wildlife crosses NH 715 post-floods in northeastern India
July 16, 2024
In northeastern India’s Assam, authorities have expressed gratitude to the public for their patience with traffic regulations.
The incident took place on National Highway 715, Kaziranga National park and the video went viral on July 15.
Visuals showed how the rhinoceros were crossing the road and people were patiently waiting for them to move out first before starting their vehicles.
According to reports, although floodwaters have receded, wildlife from the nearby Kaziranga National Park continues to migrate across the highway. Drivers are urged to drive slowly and carefully to ensure the safety of these animals.
Kaziranga National Park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including endangered species like the Indian rhinoceros and Bengal tiger. During the monsoon season, animals often move to higher ground to escape rising water levels. Even after the floods, their migration patterns can pose risks to both animals and motorists.
Officials emphasize the importance of vigilance and responsible driving. Community cooperation is essential to protect Assam’s precious wildlife. By adhering to traffic regulations and being cautious, drivers can contribute to the conservation efforts of this vital ecosystem.
