Indian Space Research Organisation launches PSLV C-55 with two Singaporean satellites in southern India

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle C55 (PSLV-C55) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, located in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.

This happened on April 22.

Visuals showed the PSLV C-55 being successfully launched by the ISRO. The PSLV C-55 had Singapore’s TeLEOS-2 as the primary satellite and Lumelite-4 as a co-passenger satellite. PSLV C-55, as per the ISRO, is a dedicated Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle of NewSpace India Limited. This was the PSLV’s 57th flight. ISRO chief S Somnath said, “Congratulations| PSLV-C55/TeLEOS-2 Mission – the PSLV has placed both satellites in the intended orbit.” The two Singaporean satellites weigh 757 combined.

“In this mission, we had a core alone configuration of the PSLV which has many specialities and improvements that we made to bring down the cost of the rocket as well as its integration time. And this is the goal–to have increased production and launches of PSLV in the times to come…,” he added.
