Firefighters rescue stranded dog from raging river in northern India

A dramatic rescue operation unfolded when a dog stranded on a small island in the fast-moving Bhagirathi River was saved by the Uttarakhand Police Fire Service.
The incident took place under the suspension bridge at Joshiyara in Uttarkashi district on July 13.
Visuals showed how the dog was tied with ropes and other equipment, and then pulled up to be rescued by the brave officials of the fire department.
The dog had been caught on the island beneath the suspension bridge in the Joshiyara area, surrounded by the river’s strong current.
Speaking to Newslions Media, the Fire Service team, led by Chief Fire Officer Devendra Singh Negi and LFM Deepak Singh, mentioned how they acted quickly upon receiving the distress call. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the team mobilized rapidly and reached the location.
Upon arrival, the firefighters assessed the challenging conditions. The strong currents and the precarious position of the island demanded careful planning and execution. Despite the difficulties, the team, equipped with rescue gear and their extensive training, managed to navigate the swift waters.
With meticulous effort and teamwork, the firefighters approached the island and secured the frightened dog. The rescue operation was tense, but the team’s expertise ensured the dog was brought back to safety without injury.
