SpiceJet employee arrested for slapping security officer in northern India; airline claims harassment

In a recent incident at an airport in northern India’s Rajasthan, a SpiceJet employee named Anuradha was arrested after slapping a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer during a security check.

The incident took place at Jaipur airport, Jaipur city on July 11.

Visuals showed the CISF officer speaking to the woman. Suddenly, she steps towards him and delivers a slap across his face. A woman constable then intervenes and takes her aside.

According to reports, the conflict arose when Anuradha attempted to use the vehicle gate without proper authorization, leading Assistant Sub-Inspector Giriraj Prasad to deny her access. In a fit of anger, Anuradha struck Prasad.

Following her arrest, SpiceJet management defended Anuradha, alleging that Prasad made inappropriate comments and asked her to meet him after duty hours, which provoked her reaction. The incident has sparked a debate over workplace harassment and appropriate behaviour in professional settings.

The police are investigating the matter, and both parties have presented conflicting accounts of the events leading up to the altercation. This incident highlights the importance of addressing harassment claims and ensuring a respectful work environment.
