Locals rescue passengers as bus overturns in northern India amid heavy water flow
A bus carrying passengers overturned in a strong water current in northern India’s Uttarakhand.

The incident took place at Dhangarhi Nala in Ramnagar, Nainital District, and a video of the incident went viral on July 7.

Footage showed a bus full of passengers traveling along the road when it suddenly overturned in the torrential water flow. Residents quickly responded to rescue people, who began escaping through bus windows and by jumping out.

According to reports, construction work on the Dhangadhi and Panod drains along National Highway 309 began in November 2020. However, even after four years, the bridge has not been completed. This situation forces drivers and passengers to risk their lives crossing the overflowing drain. Sadly, more than a dozen people have lost their lives in this drain so far.
