Six-story building collapses in western India, injuring 15 people
In western India’s Gujarat, a six-story building in the Sachin GIDC area collapsed, causing minor injuries to 15 people.
The incident took place in Surat city on July 6.
Visuals showed the horrifying site of debris of the collapsed building and rescue team rushing for people’s aid.
According to reports the building’s deteriorating condition, combined with heavy rainfall, led to the incident. The fire department and police quickly responded, and fire personnel are currently clearing debris at the site.
Initial reports indicate that the building, located in Pali village within the Sachin GIDC area, was home to 10 to 15 residents. Despite its dilapidated state, people continued to live there, risking their safety. Upon hearing the collapse, nearby residents rushed to help. Authorities are now evacuating people from the area with the assistance of the police.
