Bridge collapses amidst massive rainfall in northern India
In a recent incident in northern India’s Bihar a bridge collapsed due to heavy rain.
The incident took place near Gandak river of Janata Bazar in Saran district on July 3.
Visuals showed the bridge collapsing like a deck of cards, its structure partially tumbling into the river amidst the torrential downpour in the region.
According to officials two bridges collapsed here in a single day today. Both the bridges were barely 1 km apart from each other in the same area.
According to reports, the bridge was built during the British era, exceeds 100 years in age. Unable to withstand the river’s strong currents during the initial monsoon deluge, it collapsed, severing vital connections to nearby villages on either side.
