Heavy rains have hit western India’s Gujarat forming floods which have transformed streets to rivers causing massive inconvenience to locals.
The incident took place in Junagadh district and the video went viral on July 2.
Visuals showed a torrential flood rushing at an alarming speed, transforming a common street into a turbulent, muddy river. The water visibly entered buildings, submerging parked vehicles along the street nearly disappearing beneath the rising floodwaters.
According to officials, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for multiple districts until Tuesday morning, warning of potential extremely heavy rainfall in Surat, Navsari, and Valsad in south Gujarat, along with Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Dwarka, and Kutch districts in Saurashtra-Kutch.
According to reports, heavy rains in parts of Gujarat led to the closure of two national highways in Junagadh. Following substantial rainfall on Monday, districts like Junagadh declared a school holiday on Tuesday. On the other hand, the local meteorological department issued a rain alert for the upcoming days, with Junagadh receiving over 8 inches of rainfall from 6 AM to 8 PM on Monday.
