Massive pilgrim surge takes place in northern India for Amarnath Yatra

by Ekta ChaubeySeveral pilgrims have embarked on their journey to the sacred Amarnath cave in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir region.
The pilgrims began their journey from the Batal Base Camp on June 28.
Visuals showed a procession of pilgrims, mounted on horses, moving their way up the mountainous terrain toward Amarnath cave. The line of pilgrims moves steadily and orderly, amidst a backdrop of serene and chilly weather.
According to officials, the first batch of pilgrims left for the Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir to offer prayers at the holy cave shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. A total of 4,603 pilgrims reached the Kashmir valley on Friday amid stringent security arrangements.
According to reports, Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch from the Yatri Niwas base camp at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu. Reportedly, over 3.50 lakh people have registered for this year’s yatra. Along the routes to the cave shrine, 125 community kitchens have been set up, supported by 6,000 volunteers. Comprehensive preparations, including three-tier security, area domination, and checkpoints to ensure a smooth yatra for the pilgrims.
