Northern India faces chaos as torrential rains flood city, submerging cars and scooters

Northern India’s Delhi experienced severe disruption as an intense rainstorm hit the city, pouring 15 cm of rain in just 3 hours.

The incident took place in Delhi city on June 28.

Visuals showed how in residential areas cars get fully submerged in water and the scary heavy flow creates havoc in the region for travelling and carrying on with daily chores.

According to reports, over 24 hours, the city received a total of 22.8 cm of rainfall, leading to widespread flooding and chaos.

Streets turned into rivers, making navigation nearly impossible for residents. The deluge overwhelmed the city’s drainage systems, causing waterlogging in numerous areas and bringing daily life to a standstill. Vehicles were stranded, and public transportation faced significant delays.

The heavy rainfall underscores the challenges Delhi faces with its infrastructure and urban planning, particularly during the monsoon season. Officials are urging residents to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and be mindful of parking regulations to facilitate smoother emergency responses.

As the city copes with the aftermath of the storm, efforts are underway to clear waterlogged areas and restore normalcy. This event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of preparedness and responsible civic behaviour in managing urban environments during extreme weather conditions.
