Truck carrying sand crashes and catches fire in southern India, driver injured

In a dramatic incident, a truck carrying a load of sand lost control in southern India’s Telangana. The vehicle collided with a divider, causing it to plummet and ignite into flames.

The incident took place on National Highway 165 near Ghatkesar in Medchal district on June 25.

Visuals showed a truck twisted and overturned after the accident, engulfed in a raging inferno that reduced more than half of it to smoldering ashes. By morning, the flames that had consumed the truck had been extinguished, leaving behind a charred wreckage. Nearby, onlookers cautiously approached, surveying the aftermath and sifting through the debris, while emergency responders continued their cleanup efforts.

The accident occurred when the truck, bearing registration TS 30 TA 7119, veered off course, crashing violently on the busy highway. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang as the truck hit the divider and plunged from the elevated bridge, instantly catching fire upon impact with the ground below.

The driver, identified as Venkata Reddy, aged 45, sustained injuries in the crash and was promptly rushed to Ghatkesar Area Hospital for medical treatment. The intense blaze engulfed the truck, causing significant traffic disruption and necessitating a concerted effort to douse the flames.
