Major gas leak in village causes panic in southern India

A significant gas leak has been reported in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.

The incident took place in Mulikipally village, located in the Rajolu Mandal of the Dr. B. Ambedkar Konaseema District on June 15.

Visuals showed the borewell began spewing gas mixed with water to a height of 15 meters (about 50 feet).

 

According to reports the incident occurred at an aquaculture site owned by Vijayendra Verma, where a bore well began spewing gas mixed with water.

The unexpected and forceful discharge has caused alarm among local residents, prompting many to evacuate the area in fear of potential hazards. Government firemen swiftly arrived at the scene to assess and manage the situation.

Emergency services are currently working to secure the site and mitigate any risks associated with the gas leak. Further investigations are underway to determine the cause of the leak and the potential impact on the surrounding environment.
