Indian army helps in evacuation of pregnant lady in northern India

The incident is reported to have happened in Karnah, Kupwara district on January 15.

Indian army helps in evacuation of pregnant lady in northern India
Visuals showed the lady, who was on a stretcher, being taken from one helicopter to another According to a report, the pregnant woman, identified as Nusrat Begum had labour pain with placenta previa, while being admitted to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Karnah on January 14. Heavy snowfall since last week had cut off the route to better medical facilities at Srinagar via NH-701.
After a request by the administration, the Indian army officers stepped in. First, they donated two units of blood to the lady and submitted a requisition for the patient’s evacuation with the help of a helicopter. An army doctor from Tangdhar was mobilized to help the medical specialists at SDH Karnah. Evacuators were used to clear out the snow that had collected on the helipad but the rescue operation could begin only on the morning of January 15 due to restrictions posed by the weather.
On January 15, Nusrat Begum and another 10-month-old infant were air evacuated to Srinagar.
