Police officer thwarts robbery attempt at jewelry shop in eastern India; two arrested
A daring robbery at a jewelry shop was thwarted by a quick-thinking police officer in eastern India’s West Bengal.
The incident took place in Raniganj on June 9.
Visuals showed how the firing started after the police official figured there were robbers around.
According to reports seven robbers broke into the shop with the intention of stealing a large amount of money and valuable items. SI Meghnath Mondal, who happened to be nearby on personal business, noticed the break-in and immediately intervened. Displaying remarkable bravery, he opened fire on the robbers, who managed to escape but left behind half of their stolen loot, amounting to Rs. 4 crore.

The police have successfully apprehended two of the robbers, while the others remain at large. Authorities are continuing their investigation to capture the remaining suspects and recover the rest of the stolen goods.
