Massive fire erupts at chemical factory in central India: firefighters battle blaze

A fierce fire broke out at a chemical factory in central India’s Madhya Pradesh, causing black smoke visible from 8 to 10 kilometres away.

The incident took place in the industrial area of Pital Mill Chouraha, Vidisha, Bhopal city on June 12.

Visuals showed the smoke from the flames engulfing the entire area inside it and chaos all over the place.

According to reports the incident has mobilised firefighting teams and emergency responders from multiple locations, including Vidisha, Basoda, Sanchi, and Bhopal.

The fire, which started in the early hours, rapidly spread through the factory, leading to a significant emergency response. Firefighters from various districts, along with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Home Guard, and local administrative staff, have been working tirelessly to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby areas.

Vidisha District Collector’s Office and Public Relations Officer Jansampark Vidisha have been coordinating the efforts. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is monitoring the situation closely, ensuring all necessary resources are deployed to manage the emergency.

Collector Vaidya stated that no casualties have been reported so far, and there were no individuals present in the factory at the time of the incident. Due to the nature of the factory, which produces pesticide chemicals, the fire is particularly intense. Consequently, foam fire brigades from nearby districts have been called in to help extinguish the flames.

Residents of Vidisha and surrounding areas have been advised to stay indoors and avoid the vicinity of the industrial area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with authorities focusing on ensuring the safety of the local population and preventing any further incidents.
