Bangladeshi smuggler shot dead by Indian Border Forces in northeastern
During the daytime, an alleged Bangladeshi smuggler was shot by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the India-Bangladesh border in northeastern India’s Tripura.
The incident occurred around 7:30 AM at the Kalamchoura Border Out Post, Sepahijala district on June 9.
Visuals showed the smuggler trying to run away from the scene but the BSF official took a perfect shot at him.
According to reports, BSF jawans were conducting a routine patrol when they encountered a group of smugglers attempting to transport goods, including sacks of sugar, across the border. The smugglers, armed with sharp weapons, reportedly became aggressive when confronted, attempting to encircle and assault a BSF soldier.
In response to the immediate threat, a BSF jawan fired a round from a Pump Action Gun in self-defence, resulting in the death of one of the smugglers. The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed, but local police have taken the body to a nearby health centre for further investigation.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges of border security and smuggling activities in the region, drawing attention to the dangerous confrontations faced by border patrol forces.
