A surge in violence has struck a town of northeastern India’s Manipur, leading to severe unrest within the Meitei community.
The incident took place in Jiribam town on June 7.
Visuals showed Kuki militants firing indiscriminately at Meitei settlements. The militants are reportedly using Casper vehicles, which are intended for use by Central Forces, adding to the complexity and danger of the conflict.
The conflict intensified after reports emerged that a Meitei farmer was abducted and brutally beheaded by individuals believed to be from the Kuki community. This incident has heightened the already volatile situation, causing widespread fear and prompting many Meitei families to flee their homes in search of safety.
