Newborns rescued from hospital in northeastern India amidst cyclone Remal
In a dramatic turn of events, newborn babies in northeastern India’s Manipur were rescued from a hospital that faced severe damage during Cyclone Remal.
The incident took place in Imphal on May 29.
Visuals showed how the newborn was being rescued amidst thigh high water in the city from the hospital.
The cyclone, which battered the region with high winds and heavy rainfall, left many areas flooded and infrastructure damaged. Despite the challenging conditions, hospital staff and emergency responders worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of the youngest patients.
The newborns, many of whom were in critical care units, were safely evacuated and transported to a more secure location. This rescue operation highlighted the vulnerability of healthcare facilities in the face of natural disasters, particularly in regions already struggling with inadequate infrastructure.
