Indian Coast Guard rescues fishing boat in daring operation off southern India coast
by Utsav RoyIn a daring and swift operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully rescued the fishing boat IFB Gurovayoorappan, which was sinking, in southern India’s Kerala.
The incident took place in 30 nautical miles off the coast of Chavakkad on May 21.

Visuals showed how the Indian Coast Guard came swiftly for the rescue using their tools and equipment and safely bought the boat to the harbour and how using ropes they rescued the people onboard the boat.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the ICG ship Abhinav responded promptly to the distress call.
The crew aboard the Abhinav managed to de-flood the engine compartment of the troubled vessel and provided essential technical assistance. This critical intervention ensured the safety of all 13 crew members onboard the Gurovayoorappan.
After the de-flooding and defect rectification, the fishing boat was escorted safely to Munambam fishing harbour. The Indian Coast Guard’s quick and efficient action highlights their dedication to maritime safety and their ability to handle emergency situations effectively.
