Tree collapses due to strong winds in western India
A ferocious storm wreaked havoc in the suburban neighborhood of central India’s Maharashtra leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
This incident took place in Jogeshwari Meghwadi Naka in Mumbai on May 13.
Amidst the chaos, one unfortunate individual suffered injuries as a result of the tree’s sudden descent. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene to provide aid and ensure the safety of those affected.
Visuals showed the tree’s fall in vivid detail as it fell in between the two auto rickshaws and people running towards a safe place to prevent any further mishap.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the extent of the damage and to implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Strong winds and rain were observed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar, Bandra Kurla, and Dharavi areas. According to the latest weather update, thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/hr, are expected in isolated parts of Palghar and Thane districts within the next 3-4 hours.
Regarding the strong winds, instances of fallen trees have been reported in various areas. In Navi Mumbai, a tree toppled onto a busy road in Airoli Sector 5. Fortunately, there were no injuries, but traffic was disrupted as commuters safely parked their vehicles due to the ongoing strong winds.
