8-foot python discovered in bed storage box in central India; safely rescued by Animal Welfare Team

A startling discovery was made in central India’s Madhya Pradesh when an 8-foot Indian Rock Python was found nestled among clothes in a bed storage box, causing panic among the residents. The python was safely rescued and released into the wild by an animal welfare team.

The incident took place at Charan Mohalla, Barwaha, in the Khargone district on August 20.

Visuals showed in a house, where a large snake was hidden inside a storage box built into a bed. Snake experts arrived to remove it, approaching the task with great care and courage. They carefully captured the massive snake and safely removed it from the house. A crowd of onlookers had gathered around, all visibly frightened by the sight of the enormous snake. Outside the house, a large crowd had formed, with everyone anxiously watching the rescue.

In a surprising incident in Barwaha, Khargone, a family found an 8-foot-long Indian Rock Python hiding in their bed storage box. The python was discovered by Deepak Verma, a resident of Charan Mohalla when he opened the storage box to take out some clothes. Upon seeing the massive snake, the family and their neighbors were understandably alarmed and immediately contacted the Society for Animal and Welfare for assistance.

The rescue team, led by Tony Sharma and including members Ajay Kaushal and Atharva Sharma, promptly arrived at the scene. After careful examination, they managed to safely extract the female python from the bed storage box. The python, identified as an Indian Rock Python, was subsequently released into the forest with the supervision of forest department official Raghusingh Chauhan.

Tony Sharma explained that the proximity of the house to the nearby Karayamala forest likely led to the python’s entry into the home. He noted that the bed storage box had been left open, providing an opportunity for the python to slip inside. Sharma also mentioned that this was not the first such incident in the area, as there have been previous cases of snakes and pythons being rescued from nearby homes.

A month earlier, a similar rescue was conducted when a python was found in a field in Khargone. Additionally, a cobra was rescued from a government office in Maheshwar. The community’s proximity to forested areas has made such encounters more common, necessitating prompt and careful action from the local animal welfare teams.
