7-year-old hangs onto second-floor railing after grill collapses, rescued unharmed
A 7-year-old boy narrowly escaped a fatal accident after the grill of his third-floor apartment window broke, leaving him precariously stuck on the railing.
The incident occurred in the Kolshewadi area of Kalyan East, Mumbai, Maharashtra on January 2.

Visuals show fire officials arriving at the scene and swiftly deploying a ladder to reach the child. One official secured the child with a safety rope, while another carefully carried him down on his shoulder, ensuring his safe rescue.
According to reports, the boy, identified as Vansh Landage, was playing on the grill when it suddenly gave way. Hearing his screams, a neighbor rushed to hold the grill, preventing a potential tragedy. The neighbors promptly alerted the fire department, and the fire brigade personnel arrived at the scene without delay.
Speaking to Newslions, Fireman Yash Jagtap confirmed the team involved in the rescue included Leading Fireman Alain D’Souza, Sub-Officer Maske Saheb, Driver Operator Nikhil Suryavanshi, and Fireman Suraj Mali. The team’s swift response ensured Vansh was rescued within minutes, averting a potential tragedy.
At the time of the incident, Vansh’s parents were away for work. Officials noted that the child was standing on the window sill, which helped prevent a more serious disaster.
The fire brigade has since issued an appeal urging parents to ensure children do not play near windows or grills, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in high-rise buildings.
