5.3 magnitude earthquake strikes India, causing ceiling cracks, leaving residents in panic

The incident occurred at 7:27 AM IST in Vijayawada district, Andhra Pradesh on December 4.
A visual shows family members frightened and rushing into their rooms during the earthquake. Afterwards, they emerge and begin praying. The quake causes visible cracks in the ceiling.
According to locals, it originates near Mulugu in Telangana (latitude 18.44°N, longitude 80.24°E) at a depth of 40 kilometers. The earthquake lasts for about 2–3 seconds. The impact is felt across Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the NTR district, Krishna district, and Eluru district. Residents of Tiruvuru, Jaggayyapeta, Nandigama, and Vijayawada city describe the brief but noticeable shaking.
This marks the first significant earthquake in the region in over 20 years, highlighting the rarity of seismic activity in Andhra Pradesh.
