17-year-old student fall under moving bus in southern India
In a heart-wrenching incident, a 17-year-old student died after falling under the wheels of a moving bus in southern India’s Telangana.
The incident took place at Yousufguda in Madhura Nagar area of Hyderabad on June 14.
Visuals showed as the bus was about to stop at a bus stop, a passenger attempted to get off the moving bus. She lost her balance and fell under the bus. Both the front and back tyres of the bus ran over her. Passengers quickly disembarked and saw the girl. Nearby onlookers also rushed to the scene to see what had happened.
Mehreen, an intermediate first-year (11th class) student, had recently taken admission at a private junior college in Yousufguda. According to eyewitnesses, she slipped while attempting to alight from a Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus. Unfortunately, she was run over by both the front and back tyres of the bus before the driver could apply the brakes. Mehreen died instantly on the spot.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident. Initial reports suggest that the bus was in motion when Mehreen attempted to get off, leading to the fatal mishap.
This tragic incident has cast a pall over the community, with local residents and fellow students expressing their grief and shock. Authorities have urged bus operators to ensure the safety of passengers, particularly students, to prevent such heartbreaking accidents in the future.
