150-year-old house collapses in northern India, children narrowly escape disaster
In a dramatic turn of events in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, two children had a close brush with death as a 150-year-old house came crashing down in just 10 seconds.
The incident took place in Meerut district on October 11.
Visuals showed a bustling street where a woman carrying a bag walked ahead of two children. Within moments, the house suddenly collapsed into rubble, with the children barely escaping the disaster by a few seconds, narrowly avoiding injury.
According to reports, the house belonged to the Jain Saman Trust, which had been neglecting the property despite its deteriorating condition. Locals reported hearing the crash and rushed out in alarm. The house had long been a source of concern, with residents expressing fear about passing by it, especially during strong winds when the structure would visibly shake. The Cantonment Board had repeatedly issued notices to the Trust to either repair or demolish the building, but due to complex regulations, no action was taken.
