13-year-old boy critically injured in western India as speeding truck ran red light

The incident took place at Apex Hospital junction, Pal Gaurav Path Road, Pal area, Surat on November 17.
Visuals showed a young student riding a bicycle on a bustling road was struck by a speeding truck. The collision was so intense that the boy was left critically injured, lying motionless. The chaotic scene saw onlookers rushing to help while the truck driver fled, leaving behind a shattered bicycle and concerned witnesses.
According to reports a 13-year-old boy named Vedant, a class 8 student of LP Savani International School, sustained severe injuries after being hit by a truck that violated a red signal.
The truck, bearing registration number GJ 21 W 2747, jumped the traffic signal and rammed into the boy, leaving him gravely injured. A video of the accident, captured on CCTV, has since gone viral, showing the moment of the collision.
Vedant was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors have reported his condition to be stable. The police acted swiftly, using the CCTV footage to identify and arrest the truck driver, who had initially fled the scene.
The Surat police have registered a case and assured a thorough investigation. Officials have emphasized that strict action will be taken against the driver for his reckless behavior.
This incident has sparked concerns over road safety and adherence to traffic rules, especially in high-traffic areas like the Pal Gaurav Path Road.
