12-foot python swallows goat, rescued by forest department in central India

A 12-foot-long python in central India’s Madhya Pradesh swallowed a 30-kilogram goat before being rescued by the forest department. The snake regurgitated the goat during the rescue operation, but the animal was already dead.

The incident took place in Richaura village in the Sanodha police station area of Sagar district on August 24.

Visuals showed in the dead of night, deep within a jungle, a team consisting of a snake expert, forest department officials, and concerned locals gathered to rescue a massive snake. The serpent had swallowed an entire goat, and the scene was tense as the team approached the reptile. The snake, coiled tightly around its prey, was formidable in size and strength. Under the dim light, one of the rescue team members, utilizing his expertise, carefully approached the snake. With steady hands and nerves of steel, he began the delicate process of extracting the goat from the snake’s mouth. It was a challenging task, requiring both skill and precision, as the team members worked tirelessly to free the goat.

After a painstaking effort, the team managed to pull the goat out, but unfortunately, the animal was already dead. Despite this, the snake was still alive, though exhausted from the ordeal. The rescue team then carefully placed the large snake into a bag, ensuring it was secure for transport.

The bagged snake, still alive and now safely contained, was prepared for release in a safer location away from human habitation. The operation was a success, showcasing the team’s dedication and the snake expert’s skill in handling such a dangerous situation.

In a shocking incident in the Richaura village of Sagar, a 12-foot python was found to have swallowed a 30-kilogram goat. The incident occurred on Saturday night around 11 PM in the Sanodha police station area. Villagers noticed the massive snake coiled up in the bushes along the boundary of Devendra Rajak’s field. Upon closer inspection, they realized that the python had captured and was in the process of swallowing a goat.

Alarmed by the sight, the villagers immediately informed the forest department. A team from the North Forest Division, including forest rangers Devendra Rai, Sandeep Yadav, and KK Prajapati, along with snake catcher Aqeel Baba, arrived at the scene late at night.

Aqeel Baba reported that the rescue operation was challenging due to the muddy conditions caused by recent rains. The team had to walk two kilometers through the fields to reach the site. By the time they arrived, the python had nearly finished swallowing the goat. During the rescue, the snake began to regurgitate the goat, but unfortunately, the animal did not survive.

The python, weighing around 50 kilograms, was safely captured and handed over to the forest department. It was later released into the wild on Sunday afternoon.
