12 coaches of train derail in northern India causing massive train mishap
In a tragic incident, several coaches of a train derailed in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh and caused severe injuries to the passengers.
The incident took place on 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express near Motiganj-Jhilahi railway station of Gonda district on July 18.
Visuals depicted the horrific scene of train coaches scattered near the tracks, some stacked on top of each other, with a few passengers standing on them. People were seen retrieving their luggage from the derailed coaches.
According to reports, the incident occurred while the train was en route to Dibrugarh. So far, four casualties have been reported. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has acknowledged the accident in Gonda and has instructed officials to immediately reach the site, expedite relief efforts, and ensure proper treatment for the injured. A contingent of soldiers has been dispatched to assist the local administration with relief and rescue operations.
Additional rescue teams from the railways have also been sent from Gorakhpur to the accident site in Gonda district. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has been briefed on the derailment of the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh express in Uttar Pradesh. He is monitoring the situation, and the Government of Assam is in contact with the relevant authorities.
