110-year-old Siyaram Baba rescued from cave in southern India
Siyaram Baba, a 110-year-old Hindu saint, was recently rescued from a cave in southern India’s Karnataka, debunking viral claims that exaggerated his age to 188 years.
The incident took place near Bengaluru and the video went viral on October 4.
Visuals showed an elderly sage, frail and thin, being carefully escorted out of a dimly lit cave. His body appears emaciated, with barely any flesh on his bones, giving him a gaunt and fragile appearance. His back is hunched, and he walks with a slow, labored shuffle. Two individuals, one on each side, gently hold him by the arms to provide support, ensuring he doesn’t stumble. The scene exudes a sense of reverence and caution, as they lead the sage into the daylight, where his frailty contrasts with the strength of his spirit.
Baba Siyaram, believed to be 110 years old, is gaining attention on social media after a video of him performing his daily chores without assistance and being rescued from a cave went viral. Despite claims regarding his age, which ranges from 110 to 120 years, what captivates people is his lifestyle and devotion.
Living in an ashram near the Narmada River in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh, Baba Siyaram reportedly performs intense spiritual practices. According to the viral reel, he once stood on one leg for 11 years during his “Khadsevi Tapasya” and maintained a vow of silence for 12 years.
Locals believe Baba Siyaram to be an incarnation of Lord Hanuman and worship him accordingly. His daily routine involves reciting the Ramayana for 17-18 hours without glasses, even at his advanced age. People who visit his ashram are only allowed to offer a donation of 10 rupees and larger sums are returned to them. Despite this modest offering, Baba Siyaram has managed to donate over ₹2.5 crore for local causes, including the development of schools and the Narmada River.
Though much of the information surrounding Baba Siyaram is steeped in mysticism and reverence, his story has struck a chord with people all over the country.
