11-year-old boy injured in toy train accident in northern India

An unfortunate incident at a mall in northern India’s Punjab resulted in severe injuries to an 11-year-old boy when a toy train overturned.

The incident took place at Elante Mall in Chandigarh on June 23.

Visuals showed A toy train was running in the outdoor area of a mall when it suddenly overturned. The incident caused immediate alarm, and people nearby rushed to the scene.

Jatinder Pal Singh from Nawanshahr, along with his family, had taken a trip to Elante Mall, the largest mall in Chandigarh, to spend some quality time together. They had never imagined that a moment of joy could turn into a lifelong sorrow. Their children, excited by the sight of a toy train ride, persuaded their parents to let them board it.

However, the joyful ride turned fatal when the toy train suddenly overturned. Jatinder’s son, Shahbaz, suffered a severe head injury in the accident. Despite being rushed to GMCH-32 for medical treatment, Shahbaz succumbed to his injuries.

Shahbaz’s cousin, who was also on the train, narrowly escaped unhurt. Following the accident, Jatinder filed a complaint with the police, leading to a case of culpable homicide being registered against the operator of the toy train and the company responsible. The police have seized the toy train and are currently examining CCTV footage from the mall to investigate the incident further.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the urgent need for stringent safety protocols in recreational facilities for children to prevent such tragedies in the future.
